Yikes! Its here! Its this week! To say I’m nervous would be an understatement. Im checking the weather twice a day and worrying about my race day kit, even though I know I can’t control the weather, its still freaking me out. Ive done my last run this morning, just a nice gentle 3 mile run with Rolo then Im off to Dave’s Yoga tonight. Ive still got 8 classes to teach this week but I’ll be taking it nice and easy. I’ll do another gentle Yoga session on Friday, then saturday will be complete rest.
I have also cut out alcohol for the week! Those of you who know me well will know this may be tricky for me. I did 4 days alcohol free last eek so my body didn’t go in shock this week – hahaha! My reasons for cutting out alcohol on race week are; – to reduce my risk of dehydration, prevent increased heat loss, reduce risk of inflammation of gastrointestinal tract (give my guts a better chance!!!!) , help my liver function efficiently and use carbs more readily for energy, basically I don’t want to hinder my performance, I want to give my body the best chance of surviving the marathon.
