Recently we have been doing a lot of work in corporate environments to help desk based staff be more mindful of their posture. We have been teaching them Pilates based strengthening exercises and Yoga based stretches to counterbalance their daily sitting. Below are some Yoga based stretches you can do at your desk to help release your aches and pains in your wrists, hands and shoulders.
Desk based stretches
10 digit stretch – take hold of 1 finger or thumb whilst the elbow is bent into your side. Gently pull the finger backwards as you straighten the elbow, repeat for each digit
Wrist flexors – palms into the desk with fingers facing you
Wrist extensors – back of hands into the desk with fingers facing you
Pec stretch – bring hands into lower back, squeeze shoulder blades and push out chest.
