Top tips to reducing back pain

4 out of 5 adults will suffer from back pain at some point in their lives, here are a few tips to reduce your back pain.

  1. Move – being seated all day shortens muscles which then pull on your spine causing you pain
  2. Become posture aware – stand tall, avoid slouching and draw your shoulders back.
  3. Leave the car at home – 30-60% of drivers report that their back pain is caused or made worse by driving (WSD.org)
  4. Learn how to lift safely – bend your knees to protect your back in lifting.
  5. Reduce your stress levels – stress causes our muscles to tense and alters our posture, particularly aggravating upper back and neck pain.
