What is Pilates

What is Pilates:

Pilates is a mat based mind and body exercise class focusing on good posture and form whilst promoting muscular power, muscular endurance, and flexibility, all of which help alleviate pain. Pilates involves controlled movements and exercises on the mat using body weight or small equipment and is suitable for all levels of fitness from complete beginner to elite athletes.

Pilates originated from the works of Joseph Pilates when he became a nurse in the prison of war camps in world war 1. Here he developed a system of physical activity that he used to help men survive a massive influenza epidemic that killed 1000s, and to treat war veterans with injuries and rehabilitation.
