If you read our blog regulary or follow us on social media, you will know that last year my running challenge was the Thirteen 13s, thirteen half marathons in 9 months, and the year before was Manchester marathon.
Everyone has been asking me “what is your challenge this year?” Well, as I love distance running so much, this year I will be running my First Ultra Marathon, The Gritstone Grind, 35 miles off road along the Gritstone trail. Am I crazy, yes!
I am already nervous about the challenge even though it isn’t until September, off road isn’t my usual terrain and I’m also a little worried about getting lost, I sure as hell don’t want to end up doing more than 35 miles.
I will be doing back to back long runs at weekends on the trail itself to get used to the route and to get used to running on tired legs. Nutrition will also be practiced, jam sandwiches at the ready!
I will also be incorporating Pilates, Yoga and strength training into my programme to stay injury free.
Dave will be race support, turning up at check points with food and motivation.
